Rise
The North Beach Lions Club, a community-focused organisation dedicated to service, embraced the spirit of giving this Christmas in a heartwarming way.
When President Carole Bartlett asked how the club could better serve those in need during the holidays, one member's suggestion sparked a meaningful initiative. Recognising the growing awareness of domestic violence and its devastating impact, the club turned its attention to Rise's Kira House, which provides a safe haven for young women, with or without children, escaping family and domestic violence.
With a goal of bringing a touch of Christmas joy to these women and children, the club rallied its members to collect items that would make their holiday a bit more special. Within a short period, generosity overflowed. Six boxes brimming with Christmas cheer were assembled, filled with chocolates, fancy biscuits, lollies, special treats, sundries, nail polish, stocking fillers, and even small children's toys.
On behalf of the Lions Club of North Beach, it was a privilege to present these gifts to Kira House, conveying a heartfelt message of support and solidarity: "You are not alone this Christmas." Each box carried a reminder that someone was thinking of them, offering a glimmer of hope and warmth during a challenging time.
The North Beach Lions Club remains committed to serving its community, and this initiative exemplifies the spirit of giving that embodies the holiday season. The club is honoured to continue collaborating with Kira House to make a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most.
